About Me

About Kenisha H. Manley

At the start of my freshman year of high school, I was the top student in my pre-prescribed General Science class, where I frequently scored the highest on exams and quickly became somewhat of a teacher’s pet. However, looking back on my time in Mr. Somberg’s class, I acknowledge that it was my excitement about the subject coupled with my success that had a long lasting impact. My love for the sciences, particularly chemistry, continued throughout high school and I went on to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University in 2019.

Though much of my attention and steadfastness was focused on excelling in the sciences, many of the career opportunities that presented themselves to me in my early years were in the field of education. My first internship involved developing STEM-related programs for the youth in my community at a non-profit organization called the Mosaic Arts Center in Historic Avondale. Since then, I have taken on many roles in education, with several being directly related to my education and experience in chemistry. I’ve participated in molecular dynamics research at the university I attended, presenting my work and findings in a scholarly research symposium to other students and professionals in the field. I’ve taught introductory chemistry to 6th and 7th grade students for BASIS Ed, a charter school network whose schools are consistently top in the nation for academic excellence. I also had the opportunity to coordinate a National Science Foundation grant-funded program at the college level for underrepresented minority students interested in STEM careers.

With this education and experience under my belt, I have grown into my sincere value for quality educational programs and been introduced to a passion for helping students succeed in their educational endeavors.

In my current role as a Personalized Learning Advisor for ASU Preparatory Academy, I work with high school hybrid students, who take core subject classes online while attending a physical school campus 3 days a week, coaching them on academic achievement, social and emotional development, and career and college opportunities. I love my work. It is what has inspired me to pursue a Master of Education in Learning Design and Technologies from Arizona State University, where I currently participate in online courses.

The start of this blog signifies my deep dive into the world of educational technology and instructional design, where I hope to build a solid foundation for a career continuing to serve students by providing them with the best education possible.

My hope is that you take away something positive from the work that I share here that will enhance your service to students as well.
